Architect: Paul Follot

The height of the desk top is 108 cm. (42.5 in)

This monumental buffet (secrétaire) is the centerpiece and most magnificent item of the rare dining suite designed by Paul Follot in 1920s France. While the smaller buffet in the set excels in subtle elegance, this piece represents the pinnacle of the designers early period through its grand scale and richness of detail. As the head of the Pomone workshop, Follot uses this work to demonstrate the absolute peak of Art Deco, where luxury materials meet architectural rigor.

The foundation is again a solid mahogany structure veneered in precious thuja burl, whose wild and deep grain is showcased here on an even larger scale. The cabinet is decorated with intricate marquetry and bears the identical, artistically cast bronze appliqués with glass grape details that unify the entire set. The characteristic convexly curved faceted glass adds lightness and depth to the upper section. The piece has been professionally restored, focusing on reviving the original polish, is in excellent condition, and is fully functional. This is a museum-quality specimen embodying the prestige and opulence of interwar French interiors.
