This pair of nightstands is a fantastic and design-forward example of Czechoslovak interwar Functionalism from the 1930s. Although the exact manufacturer of these pieces remains unknown, their exceptional build quality and design language align perfectly with the top-tier period production of brands like Vichr, Gottwald, or Slezák. This particular model embodies the perfect essence of modern period aesthetics – combining geometric precision, the lightness of bent steel, and a bold color palette.
The defining feature of this pair is its unique coloration. As part of a comprehensive and meticulous restoration, the original green color was sensitively revived in a pastel hue. Combined with the black framing of the front elements, it creates a striking and authentic period contrast. The supporting frame, made of elegantly shaped chrome-plated steel, has been professionally cleaned and polished to a brilliant mirror finish, giving the nightstands a luxurious look and visual weightlessness.
Each nightstand features a practical drawer fitted with an original circular chrome knob, with an open storage space situated beneath it. The upper part of the tubular frame holds a shelf made of clear glass, below which sits an additional fixed wooden shelf finished in matching green lacquer. This beautifully restored collectible set is an ideal choice for discerning design enthusiasts looking to infuse a bedroom or living room with the genuine atmosphere of interwar avant-garde.
