This set of three dining armchairs is an exceptionally attractive example of Czechoslovak interwar design in the Bauhaus style from the 1930s. This set was manufactured by the renowned Robert Slezák company, whose factories in Bystřice pod Hostýnem ranked at the very top of modern tubular furniture production. The chairs represent a perfect blend of period technical innovation, minimalist geometry, and a bold color concept.
The foundation of the chairs is an elegantly shaped cantilever frame made of bent tubular chrome-plated steel, which offers exceptional seating comfort due to its natural flexing effect without back legs. The original metal frames have undergone comprehensive restoration and have been professionally polished to a brilliant mirror finish.
The seats and backrests are crafted from beech plywood, while the comfortable armrests are made of solid beech wood. The defining feature of this set is its unique coloration – during the professional restoration, the original green color in a soft pastel hue was sensitively revived across all wooden elements. The contrast between the cool mirror chrome and the fresh pastel green creates a distinct and authentic period aesthetic. The chairs are perfectly stable, structurally sound, and ready for immediate use. This set of three armchairs represents an excellent collector's opportunity and a stylish accent for functionalist or modern interiors.
