This armchair is a true gem of interwar functionalism and Bauhaus design from the 1930s. The globally acclaimed design was conceived by the legendary Hungarian-German designer and architect Anton Lorenz, a pioneer in tubular steel furniture. In Czechoslovakia, this piece was manufactured under license as the FN 21 Famos model by the renowned company Mücke-Melder, synonymous with the highest standards of craftsmanship.
The structural masterpiece lies in the elegantly bent tubular chrome-plated steel cantilever frame, which offers an incredibly comfortable spring effect. The chrome surfaces have undergone a complete restoration and have been professionally polished to a brilliant mirror finish. A standout craftsmanship detail features on the armrests made of solid beech wood, newly finished in a black piano lacquer and polished to a luxurious high gloss, creating a perfect material harmony with the cool metal.
The chair features new professional upholstery built up entirely from the frame. The premium cover fabric is from the prestigious Austrian brand Backhausen, boasting a subtle geometric pattern in a timeless black-and-white colorway that beautifully accentuates the purist lines of the design. This meticulously restored piece represents a high-value collector's and investment item, ideal for adding a touch of exclusivity to a modern living room or a minimalist study.
