This floor lamp is one of the most intriguing and multifunctional designs by architect Jindřich Halabala, produced by the renowned UP Závody in the 1920s. It is a fascinating hybrid of a lighting fixture, a side table, and a bar cabinet, perfectly representing Czechoslovak Art Deco. This piece was not just furniture, but a technological symbol of the modern interior of its time.
The item has undergone a complete restoration. The base consists of a cylindrical storage cabinet with a unique rotating mechanism for sliding the door open and closed. The surface of the 65 cm high cabinet is covered in rich walnut veneer with a refreshed original wood polish. The top of the cylinder is fitted with black glass, serving as an elegant side table surface. The slender lamp arm made of tubular chrome-plated steel has been professionally cleaned and fitted with an opal glass shade (25 cm diameter). The lamp features new electrical wiring with a period-authentic brown braided cable and is fully functional.
