This unique room divider, poetically nicknamed "The Sun," is a fascinating blend of folk tradition and modern design from 1970s Czechoslovakia. Its official designation is the "Rays Decorative Dividing System," and it was manufactured by Zadrev – ÚLUV Morkovice. This piece is a direct successor to the basket-weaving tradition of Morkovice, which dates back to the 17th century and whose guild history is documented as early as 1730. The divider thus represents a rare connection between centuries-old craftsmanship and late-modernist aesthetics.

The construction utilizes a combination of natural materials: beech wood forms the sturdy frame, while the intricate weaving is masterfully executed using rattan and bamboo. The geometric composition, reminiscent of sunbeams, creates a dynamic play of light and shadow within an interior without visually weighing down the space. The item has been professionally restored and cleaned, ensuring the natural materials retain their flexibility and original coloration. It is an ideal collectors piece for those who appreciate natural materials and the story of traditional Moravian craft set in a modern context.
