The armchairs and sofa are remarkable for their cylindrical shapes and the groundbreaking use of corrugated cardboard as a load-bearing structure. This revolutionary approach, first introduced by Reinstein, allowed cardboard to serve not as a cladding material but as a structural element, thanks to its exceptional stability. Reinstein secured what is likely the world’s first patent for cardboard furniture. The initial production series included chairs, sofas, tables, beds, nightstands, and more, blending aesthetics with functionality.

The set has been expertly restored with great attention to preserving its authenticity. The newly upholstered seats were crafted based on the original design, and the original lacquer has been revitalized. The oval table that completes this set serves as an elegant and functional centerpiece.

Hans Günther Reinstein brought both aesthetic elegance and technical innovation to furniture design. The armchairs were crafted by bending corrugated cardboard inside a bentwood frame, with black oval-headed iron nails securing the material to the seat. These nails were not only functional but also added a decorative element. This set is not merely furniture but a true work of art, bearing immense historical and design value.
