This pedestal is an excellent example of the transition between decorative Art Deco and emerging Functionalism in 1920s Czechoslovakia. It represents a modernist approach to design, moving away from unnecessary ornamentation in favor of clean lines and architectural form. This minimalist style allows the geometry of the object and the quality of the material to stand out.
The entire construction is made of solid wood veneered with oak. The oak veneer, with its distinct texture, gives the pedestal visual strength and a timeless character. The piece has undergone complete restoration, leaving it in excellent condition. The structure is very solid and stable, making it an ideal piece for displaying heavier sculptures, vases, or other collectible artifacts in both modern and period interiors.
