Johann Greiner was a famous Austrian watchmaker operating in Graz. His company was founded in 1823 and became a symbol of luxury. Greiner did not sell just any watches; it was a "watchmaking house" that produced and supplied the best machines for the aristocracy and wealthy townspeople.

k. u. k. Hofuhrmacher - means: kaiserlicher und königlicher Hofuhrmacher, meaning Imperial and Royal Court Watchmaker. This is an official certificate awarded directly by the imperial court in Vienna.
